It is a common practice for E-Commerce folks, site designers and web promoters
to list the names of preferred clients as references and reproduce their logos
with links to their sites. Prospective clients routinely go to sites and then
call owners for their opinions.
I have no hesitancy to do that. No one ever gives out 'unpreferred' clients.
Pretty sites are as common as pretty girls. But you can look at the appearance
of sites all day and not see what you need to know about E-Commerce. That is
why most sites need help.
So, since I consummate no actual product sales online, and normally have many
discussions with prospective clients, I would prefer to personally provide references
needed by any prospects. This reduces distractions for my clients and insures
that my references are not contacted needlessly.
If you end up doing business with me, I am certain you will request the same
courtesy.
